An open-top style live planted aquascape was used in this commercial custom aquarium installation setting to express Fall colors by using various type of aquatic plants. The layout of this aquarium uses a classic two-sided aquascaping method the create two distinctive sections with open space in the middle to inspire a feeling of depth. The mid-ground is anchored by the slow growing Anubias coffeeafolia, and the forground achieves coverage with Marsilea miutiae, a type of dwarf fern that is very slow growing compared to other commonly used foreground aquatic plants. In this way the stemmed plants can be trimmed repeatedly to achieve dense growth while the mid and foreground stays more contant. As with all live planted aquariums, routine maintenance is the key to long term success.
