A Brackish Hardscape- Gothic Feel

A Brackish Hardscape- Gothic Feel

This aquarium was an early hardscape design for Aquarium Design Group. Completed in 2006, it was not a deliberate or conscious intention to create a hardscape-only aquascape, but rather the vision began with the suggestion of thin sections of driftwood suspended from the top of the aquarium tank coming down into the scene. This created a mysterious, almost gothic aesthetic to which the dark Chinese stone seemed especially well paired. Various brackish water fish had been in the plans from the beginning, and their particular shape and visual presence ultimately woked in perfectly to aquascape. The aquarium tank dimensions are 72in. x 30in. x 30in and the volume is approximately 280 gallons.
